Cookie Policy

How TekRisk uses cookies and similar technologies on tekrisk.com.

Last updated: April 12, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how TekRisk® uses cookies and similar technologies on tekrisk.com and within the TekRisk Service. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Under the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, we obtain your prior consent before storing or reading non-essential cookies on your device. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to store information about your browsing. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and web beacons. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.

Cookies may be "first-party" (set by TekRisk) or "third-party" (set by service providers). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining on your device for a defined period).

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary cookies — required to operate the Service, authenticate you, maintain your session, remember your language and theme preference, and protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). These cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. Legal basis: legitimate interests / contractual necessity; no consent required.

Functional cookies — remember non-essential preferences and settings to improve your experience. Legal basis: consent.

Analytics cookies — if enabled, help us understand aggregate usage of the Service to improve features. Legal basis: consent.

Marketing cookies — if enabled, are used to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. We do not currently use marketing cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising. Legal basis: consent.

4. Specific Cookies and Duration

Amazon Cognito authentication tokens (first-party / third-party, strictly necessary) — used to keep you signed in. Duration: session to several hours, depending on session configuration.

Locale preference (localStorage, strictly necessary) — remembers your selected language. Duration: until cleared by you.

Theme preference (localStorage, functional) — remembers your light/dark mode preference. Duration: until cleared by you.

Google OAuth cookies (third-party, strictly necessary when using Google Sign-In) — set by Google on its domains during authentication. Refer to Google's policies for details.

Mapbox tiles (third-party, strictly necessary for map features) — used to render maps on pages that include mapping features.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are placed by third parties whose services we use, including Google (OAuth) and Mapbox (mapping). These third parties process data under their own privacy policies. You should review their policies for further information.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through any cookie consent banner we display on the Service. You may also manage cookies through your browser settings — for example, by deleting existing cookies or blocking future ones. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Service from functioning properly.

For more information about cookies and how to manage them, see resources such as https://www.allaboutcookies.org.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
